- CO2Solidaire : 100 companies comitted to climate solidarity
Launched 7 years ago, the CO2Solidaire program, pioneer in voluntary compensation in France, ask its partners to commit themselves to take action towards Climate Solidarity. It combines two approaches:
- Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the North because of its historical responsibility for climate change;
- Support for a development project in the South aimed at reducing the vulnerability of those local populations first affected by climate change.
Today more than 100 companies, associations and communities have joined the CO2Solidaire initiative, forming a community pioneering social change, committed to ethical compensation.
- Ethical compensation and carbon neutrality
In his recent and excellent book «La compensation Carbone : illusion ou solution ?" Fragnière, raises interesting questions, especially on the ethics of the approach. Since its launch in 2004, the NGO GERES, through CO2Solidaire, the first French voluntary carbon compensation program, has been reflecting on these basic questions and wishes to offer some insights. Carbon neutrality and the socio-economic benefits of compensation projects are the topics which particularly interest GERES.
