Events

Any event, what ever its duration, place or participants, emits greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and therefore has a significant impact on the climate.

Because an event is a one time happening, it is easier to take action to reduce GHG emissions: this is the eco-concept.  You will find in this section a non exhaustive presentation of ways of reduction to explore, in order to make an event eco-friendly.

Lastly, to further your efforts to protect the climate, you can compensate residual emissions by co-financing a development project implemented by GERES and its local partners in countries of the South.  Your contribution is a firm commitment which associates you clearly with sustainable and responsible development.

Make your event an act of climate solidarity

To undertake a project of solidarity, efficient in CO2, introduces a differential element.
The CO2Solidaire certification guarantees an approach in favor of the environment and aid to the poorest populations of countries of the South, who are the first to be affected by the consequences of climate change.

The Solidarity Approach...

The CO2Solidaire initiative goes beyond the environmental dimension of carbon compensation.  As well as compensating your GHG emissions, you get involved with an NGO supporting development projects in countries of the South.  These projects aim at socio-economic benefits for local populations, enabling them to substantially improve their living conditions and reduce their vulnerability when faced with the consequences of climate change.

... and a Transparent Approach

Projects are implemented in the field by the NGO GERES – Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity – a non-profit and independent association created under the 1901 Act.  Created in 1976, GERES implements long term development projects, in the fields of environment and energy, in Sub Saharan Africa, Maghreb and Asia.  Today, more than 200 associates work to reduce the poverty of populations in the South by offering energy solutions adapted to local conditions.

CO2Solidaire is the compensation program set up by GERES.  There are no intermediaries and we guarantee you monitoring and transparency on all the projects.
